Understanding the optimization results and key metrics.
Reading Results
After optimization completes, results appear in the center-right column of the project screen once a design has been selected from the Design Matrix by the user.
Design Status Badge
At the top of results, a large status badge shows:
- PASS (green checkmark) — all ACI 318-19 structural checks pass
- REVIEW REQUIRED (red X) — one or more checks failed
A "PASS" design is code-compliant and safe for use. "REVIEW REQUIRED" means the design does not satisfy all code provisions — review the specific failing checks before proceeding.
Optimization Results Card
Key metrics for the selected design:
| Metric | Unit | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Number of Stems | — | Cross-section configuration (1 = single-T, 2 = double-tee, etc.) |
| Total Height | mm | Overall section depth including flange |
| Section Area | mm² | Total cross-sectional area |
| Weight | kg/m² | Self-weight per unit floor area |
| Cost | $/m² | Estimated material cost per unit floor area |
| Embodied Carbon | kgCO₂e/m² | Carbon footprint per unit floor area |
Reinforcement Summary
For prestressed designs:
- Strand count, total area, and jacking force
- Prestress losses and final effective stress
- Passive rebar (if any)
- Shear reinforcement: stirrup area, spacing, number of legs
For RC designs:
- Flexural reinforcement layers and bar sizes
- Shear reinforcement details
PCI Baseline Comparison
When available, Cimbra compares your optimized design against a standard PCI section of similar type, showing the percentage savings in weight, cost, and carbon.
